The genius of your dream

In some orders, it is said, a dream decides what follows. Lenain, for his part, ties a genius to every twenty minutes of the night, and entrusts dreams to four of them. Enter the time at which you woke from your dream.

The genii Lenain ties to dreams

Out of seventy-two, Lenain names four whose domain touches on dreams. To address a genius he asks that its name and its verse be spoken during the twenty minutes of its reign: the hours are given here.

GeniusIt rulesIts hour
Hahaiah (12th)dreams; mysteries hidden from mortals03:40 – 04:00
Lauviah (17th)the high sciences, marvellous discoveries, revelations in dreams05:20 – 05:40
Nith-Haiah (25th)all the occult sciences; revelations in dreams; those who practise the magic of the wise08:00 – 08:20
Manakel (66th)vegetation; sleep and dreams21:40 – 22:00

To rest well at night

One of the four, Lauviah, is also invoked “against torments of mind and sadness, and to rest well at night”:

GeniusIt rulesIts hour
Lauviah (17th)the high sciences, marvellous discoveries, revelations in dreams05:20 – 05:40

What is Lenain’s, and what is ours

The table of hours and the domains are those of Lazare Lenain, La Science cabalistique, 1823. Looking up the hour of a dream in that table is our idea, not his: he gives no key of dreams, and neither does this page. It does not interpret your dream and predicts nothing; it says which genius, by Lenain’s reckoning, reigned at that hour.

The time is local time, counted from midnight as Lenain does. Nothing is sent anywhere: the calculation runs in your browser.
